Seven Network's Mount Coot-tha broadcasting site has been listed for sale, putting another Brisbane television property on the market alongside neighbouring Nine's studios. The approximately 3.85-hectare holding is being marketed by Savills, with offers closing at 4pm AEST on Thursday (12 November).

The agent's listing covers 560, 560A and 560B Sir Samuel Griffith Drive across three adjoining freehold titles. Savills describes potential for adaptive reuse and revitalisation of the established development footprint, subject to all relevant approvals.

The property has been home to Channel 7 since 1959 and sits approximately 10km from Brisbane's CBD, according to the listing. Savills highlights its elevated position and views across Brisbane, along with extensive car parking and a helicopter hangar and pad.

Brisbane Times reported on Thursday (15 October) that Seven continues to broadcast its flagship news programme from the site. The property's existing infrastructure includes offices, television studios, broadcast towers and a helipad, the report said.

A Review of Long-Term Needs

A Southern Cross Media spokesperson told Brisbane Times that the sale was part of a re-evaluation of the company's long-term needs. Commercial details remained confidential, the spokesperson said, describing the process as positioning the business for “sustainable growth well into the future”.

Brisbane Times said Southern Cross Media was formed through the merger of Southern Cross Austereo and Seven West Media earlier this year. The company also owns Brisbane radio stations Triple M and Hit 105, according to the report.

Nine's Neighbouring Site Also Marketed

The neighbouring Nine property is also being marketed through Savills. A Courier-Mail report published by realestate.com.au on 23 September described an expressions-of-interest campaign for Nine's premises at 654 Sir Samuel Griffith Drive, including its office and studio facilities.

Savills' current Nine listing identifies approximately 25,411 square metres of freehold land across three lots, with car parking, a helipad and associated infrastructure. Offers for that property close on 28 October at 4pm AEST, ahead of Seven's November deadline.

For Seven's site, Savills says this is the first offering to the market in more than 65 years. Its campaign pairs the long-established broadcasting premises with the potential for a different use of the existing footprint, while Seven's news broadcasts continue from the property.
