Some venues are converted; this one was composed. When Gareth and Stephanie Jones bought a stretch of untouched pastoral land on Tamborine Mountain in 2016, they planned Wynmère Estate in micro detail — laying out formal French parterre-style gardens around the movement of the sun through the seasons, so the property would offer photo opportunities year-round. A few years on, those gardens sprawl across five acres, framed by architecture heavily influenced by traditional English Georgian features and by the rainforest of the Gold Coast hinterland, 30 minutes from the coast and an hour from Brisbane. The first wedding was held on the property — then known as The Grounds Estate — in August 2023.
The estate offers three distinct outdoor ceremony locations, each with its own register. The Parterre is the formal French garden — classic hedging, roses and lush greenery for up to 40 guests seated within the garden beds, or 80 around its perimeter. The Creekside trades structure for serenity: a shaded spot beneath towering camphor laurels where the sound of water runs under the vows, cool even at the height of summer, for up to 80 guests. And The Residence puts the ceremony on the steps of the main house, the long gravel pathway doubling as a grand processional entrance. A light-filled open-air Atrium stands by as the signature wet-weather alternative — no outdoor wedding here gambles on the sky.
A reception hall with French windows and vintage chandeliers
Receptions run through the Grand Reception Hall, a 7m x 10m Georgian-style space lined with traditional French windows that flood it with natural light by day; by night, the room celebrates under sparkling vintage chandeliers. It is fully air-conditioned, with an elegant bar, a surround sound system with wireless microphone, and lighting options — and every booking includes the estate's timber trestle tables, crystal-style glassware, crockery and cutlery, and a choice of dining chair. The inclusions list runs long in the practical direction too: a PA system and signing table for the ceremony, barrel sets and market umbrellas for the canapé hour, a pop-up bar on the lawn, even hand-held clear umbrellas if the weather turns.
Restaurateurs in the kitchen, brothers on the floor
The food is run by the venue's in-house catering partner, the Ridgeway Group — a team the estate describes as one of the Gold Coast's most formidable purveyors of fine food, with iconic restaurants behind them. Menus come in three styles — individually plated courses, European-style shared feasting, or a canapé reception — and every booking includes a tasting credit at one of the group's restaurants, the twice-hatted French room Little Truffle or the newly hatted Madam V, where the wedding menus are developed.
Coordination belongs to The White Stag — Bruce, Mick and Drew, described on the venue's site as Scottish brothers who stay with each couple from the moment of booking through to on-the-day coordination. It is a deliberately small operation by design: Wynmère hosts only a limited number of events each year, an intentional exclusivity the owners say keeps the property pristine and every celebration personal. The estate also states its welcome plainly — it proudly supports and welcomes the LGBTQI community — and yes, it is dog-friendly; the Joneses' own rescue cavoodle, Rocky, has been part of the household since 2020.
Stay on the mountain
For guests, the after-party logistics are unusually gentle. The estate sits within easy walking distance of a range of accommodation options — one boutique hotel a short stroll from the gates, a lodge directly opposite — with more choices a mini-bus ride away, so nobody is negotiating hinterland roads after the final toast.
Beyond full receptions, the packages page covers a micro and canapé celebration for 30 to 80 guests and petite elopements for couples who want the gardens, the portraits and little else. Wynmère is now booking for 2027 and 2028, with limited event numbers remaining; the estate and gardens are on show on the venue's site, and viewings are by appointment through the contact page.
