The logistics are usually the part of a wedding nobody warns you about — the convoy between ceremony and reception, the hired chairs arriving at the wrong lawn, the question of who is dealing with the caterer at 5pm. In The Grove, the private venue of the "Pinegrove" homestead on the northern side of Bundaberg, is built around making that whole category of problem disappear: 1.4 hectares of family-owned gardens, just 10 kilometres from the city's GPO, where the ceremony, the photographs and the reception all happen in one place.
The setting does a lot of the persuading. The gardens are graced with soaring hoop pines, palms and fig trees — a cool, green canopy the venue notes is as useful for shade on a long sunny day as it is as a backdrop. Couples can hold the ceremony anywhere across the property: the romantic Federation gazebo, a corten-steel water-feature arbor, the rose and hydrangea garden, or a private clearing beneath the tall pines and palms.
A marquee built for weather, styled for anything
After the vows and the canapés, the night moves into the venue's purpose-built 10m x 15m hip-sided marquee — a permanent, all-weather structure sized for 50 to 100 seated guests. Draped in its optional white silk lining it becomes a blank canvas the team styles from top to bottom, whether the brief is classic and elegant, country and rustic, or something else entirely. Over 300 metres of fairy lights are strung through the roof's silk linings, with space to hang two chandeliers when the occasion calls for it.
Run by the people who own it
In The Grove is owned and run by Ian and Sandy, and their welcome on the venue's site reads like a mission statement: "It is our passion and delight to be able to make weddings, events and special occasions spectacular for our clients and guests. There's no problem too big that we can't tackle and we consider it a privilege to go the extra mile for you." The family-owned, personal-care model is one of the five reasons the venue lists for why couples choose it — alongside having ceremony and reception in one location, full-service styling with décor, furniture, tableware and linens onsite for exclusive hire, a managed BYO drinks service with beverages served professionally and RSA compliant, and a bench of trusted caterers and third-party vendors.
The service layer runs deeper than most garden venues attempt. There is an event planning service pitched at making the months beforehand run without the couple lifting a finger, and a total event-day service in which the venue acts as the point-person for every supplier and enquiry on the day. Styling is tailored to theme, colours and budget; catering is matched to taste and budget from the Bundaberg region's local chefs and mobile caterers; and the venue's supplier network stretches from florists and cake makers to celebrants, entertainers and audio-visual technicians.
Three seasons, three ways to book it
The offer is organised by season. Peak-season weddings, from March to May and September to November, are the fully personalised, elevated version — co-ordination, in-house styling and catering flowing from ceremony to reception. The Summer Saver, from December to February, packages the same one-site experience as a styled, all-inclusive offering aimed at couples chasing exceptional value in the venue's quieter months, while Winter Vogue, from June to August, leans into the soft winter light and a warm, ambient atmosphere.
