At Westbrook, a short taxi ride from Toowoomba, sits a venue with a backstory you can taste. When hosts Cass and Tony purchased the 50-acre property in 2016 from what they describe as a gorgeous Scottish/Irish couple — who called it their "wee bit of paradise" — they named it Aberfeldy, after the Scottish town they had visited and fallen in love with, and after the smooth Aberfeldy Scotch whisky distilled there. Three years later they added the centrepiece: a large custom-designed barn, built in 2019 with a dedicated dance floor, which the family-operated business now pitches as an enchanting destination venue of relaxed sophistication.
The experience behind the operation runs deep. According to the venue's Your Hosts page, Cass holds a business degree majoring in hospitality management and has worked in major hospitality and events for over 30 years — including, the site says, significant functions for the likes of Richard Branson, Bob Geldof and Layne Beachley. The property itself joins the team on the day: with the stud Speckle Park cattle, the wandering guinea fowl and Aberfeldy's gentle hills, the venue says the entire property makes a wonderful photography backdrop through the seasons — the bridal party and photographer get access to all 50 acres, and the cows can even be brought up for a unique touch.
One function a day, four ways to marry
The wedding offer comes in four tiers: an all-inclusive package that folds venue, styling, catering, entertainment and coordination into one plan — "You arrive, celebrate, and soak up every moment," as the site puts it — a full wedding package with exclusive use of the barn and Cass's guidance throughout the planning, an elopement and ceremony-only option, and micro weddings for couples who value connection over crowd size. The venue holds only one function per day, with an eight-hour hire for weddings and six hours for parties; ceremonies typically run at 3:30pm, pushed past 4:30pm in the December-to-February summer months. For couples chasing a bigger entrance, the site advertises bespoke helicopter wedding transfers through a partner operator.
The practical answers are unusually candid on the venue's FAQ page. If it rains, the ceremony moves under the Terrace, which the venue calls a beautiful all-weather option. The bar lets couples bring in their own beverages with venue staff serving them — a personalised drink experience that keeps costs down, in the site's words. Catering comes from an approved list of caterers (wedding cakes excepted, and every other vendor is free choice), and setup is included: as the venue puts it, this is not a D.I.Y. operation.
From high teas to corporate retreats
Weddings are only half the calendar. The barn and lawn are offered as fully catered function hire — comfortably accommodating 140 guests across the indoor and outdoor spaces — for birthdays, high teas, fundraisers, expos, meetings, workshops and dances, with corporate retreats and destination seminars in the mix too. There is a sealed, level path into the Terrace, the barn and the amenities for accessibility, and children are welcome, with the venue's cheerful caveat that Aberfeldy is a working farm.
The trophy shelf is hard to miss: the venue's homepage carries a wall of wedding-industry award badges, including Wedding Industry Awards winner badges spanning 2022 to 2025 and three ABIA finalist badges from 2023 — and the hosts page calls it a unique multi-award venue. There is no on-site accommodation yet, though the site says cottages are coming soon, and Toowoomba's motels are a short taxi ride away.
